On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, Samuel A. McGan, III (Horn Lake, MS) crossed over the river to rest beneath the shade of the trees with his ancestors. Sam was born on June 11, 1953 at Beale Air Force Base in Yuba, CA. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda McGan, of the home; sons, Samuel "Buck" McGan IV (Samantha) of Nesbit, MS and Ricky A. McGan (Candace) of Ward, AR. "Pappy" leaves granddaughter, Maylee Adison McGan of Ward, AR; grandsons, Brandon Griffin of Osceola, AR and Zach Griffin of Nesbit, MS; sister, Judy Taylor of Searcy, AR; brothers Steve McGan (Pat), Olive Branch, MS; Terry McGan (Pam) of Bartlett, TN; and loved ones, including his mother-in-Law, Marie Claye of Horn Lake, MS as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel A. McGan, II; stepmother, Rose McGan; and sister, Nancy Jane McGan Robbins. Sam was an active member of the Samuel A. Hughey Camp 1452 – Sons of Confederate Veterans, and was proud of his Confederate Heritage. He loved to fish, camp and attend historical Civil War Reenactments. He was always fighting to keep his Southern Heritage alive. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Beauvoir—The Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library would be greatly appreciated. Family and friends will gather to share memories from 12:00-2:00 pm, Sunday, followed by services at 2:00 pm, at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park-Midtown (901) 775-0310
