Samuel Jack West, III of Eads, Tennessee, passed away on February 3, 2026, at Baptist Hospital-Memphis, at the age of 77. He was born on February 17, 1948, in Memphis, TN. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Jack West, Jr. and Lillian May Smith, a brother, Michael West and a sister, Sherry Rankin. He was a graduate of Bartlett High school, attended Memphis State University and Michigan State University, and served in the United States Navy.

Sam was the beloved husband of Denise Bruen West, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his three sons: Samuel Joseph West (wife, Brittaney) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; John Martin West of Eads, Tennessee; and Timothy Jack West (wife, Lauren) of Lakeland, Tennessee. He was a proud grandfather to his three grandsons, whom he deeply loved, and they brought him immense joy.

He is survived by two brothers, William O. West of Bartlett, TN and Steven West, of Memphis, TN, a sister, Teresa Hansen of Cordova, TN and stepbrother David White and two stepsisters, Diane Boswell and Danita Kelley: plus, many beloved nieces and nephews.

Sam was the owner of Best Donuts and Third Street Bakery. He was also a long-term dedicated employee of Kroger for over 20 years. He was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, husband, friend but Pops to most. He was known for his strong work ethic, sharp wit, and his commitment to providing for his family.

As an avid Chicago Cubs and Las Vegas Raiders fan, he faithfully followed his teams. He had a love of music, particularly The Beatles. He played guitar and was an aspiring songwriter. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and treasured the life they shared together. His steady presence, loyalty, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service will be held at Forest-Hill Funeral Home-East on Monday, February 16 at 2 pm with visitation beginning at 1 pm.
