Sara Goodwin Brumley, 85, passed away at her home September 24, 2025. She has joined her two greatest loves, God and her husband Jimmy Neil Brumley who preceded her in death in 2018. Sara, or Mama Sara as she insisted on being called by anyone younger than her, was also known as "Stinker" during nursing school because of her mischievous sense of humor. She was also preceded in death by her parents Willo and Lorena Goodwin and her 6 siblings James Goodwin, Willo Goodwin Jr., Delois Walker, LeGrand Goodwin, Theo Goodwin, and Freddie Goodwin.

Mama Sara was an accomplished nurse, seamstress, crafts person and gardener. She was an active member of her Sunday School class at Bartlett Baptist Church as well as her retired nurse's group. She graduated from Baptist School of Nursing in 1960 and earned her RN license. After working at various hospitals in the Mid-South she retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis, TN in 1997. Her skill as a seamstress was born out of necessity growing up in rural Drew, MS. She enjoyed making craft items out of everyday items but focused on Christmas ornaments and decorations. She took great pride in her gardens over the years and constantly was canning and preserving vegetables for the upcoming apocalypse (or so it seemed to us!).

Mama Sara is survived by her son Jimm Brumley of Jackson, MS; daughter Jeanetta Raney (Kevin) of Memphis, TN; four grandchildren, Reggie Raney of Germantown, TN; Allison Raney (Grant Ransdell) of Huntsville, AL; Iain Brumley of Starkville, MS; and BJ Brumley of Hattiesburg, MS.

Memorial services will be held at Bartlett Baptist Church on Friday, October 10, 2025, with visitation at 10:00am, funeral services at 11:00am, with a private burial afterward.
