Sarah Jane Miller Huff, 89, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019. She was born to Lydia Pearl and George Henry Miller on Aug. 18, 1930 , in Charleston, WV .

She was a 1950 graduate of Charleston Ge neral Hospital School of Nursing which began her lifelong love of caring for people .  She worked as a registered floor nurse, a private duty nurse, a n ursing quality improvement s pecialist, and a State of Tennessee regional n ursin g s upervisor . E ventually , she retired at the age of 85 from her part-time position at Unity Hospice .  If the t ruth be told , she was still trying to practice nursing until just recently.  At Foxb ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care, she would fo llow the nurse on duty making her rounds to "advise" on other residents ' care! When asked , "So Ms. Huff, you were a nurse?" S he would respond adamantly with , "No, I AM a nurse ! " She truly loved her profession .

The only aspect of her life that she loved more than n ursing was her family.  She is survived by her children : Caroly n Ann Huff Floyd (Greg) of Memphis, Janie Huf f (Ken) of Portland, OR , Tricia Huff Goodfellow (Charlie) of Memphis a nd CJ Huff (Wanda) of Memphis, six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. In addition to her parents s he was prece ded in death by a brother, two son s -in- law and a granddaughter.

The family will receiv e friends on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 1 pm , with the memorial service beginning at 2pm in Wilson Chapel at Christ United Methodist Church .  A private burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
