Scott David Hartman, Age 53, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 25, 2015 after a prolonged battle with cancer in Bartlett, TN. Scott, the son of Barbara and Larry Smith of Artemas, PA was born in Cumberland, Maryland and attended Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Maryland and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in North Carolina. He proudly served for eight years as a SSGT Air Traffic Control Specialist in the United States Air Force before beginning his career with the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Control Specialist and Air Traffic Control Manager. Scott recently retired with 26 years experience from the Control Center at Memphis International Airport. He was happily married for 33 years to his beloved Christina Hartman.
Scott was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and golf with family and friends and especially enjoyed watching his beloved Grizzlies basketball team. He loved life and was happiest spending time with his wife and boys, Sean and Adam. Scott is survived by his parents, Barbara and Larry Smith, Artemas, PA; his wife Christina Felten Hartman; son Sean Hartman and his fianc Rebecca Robertson of Bartlett, TN; son Adam Hartman and his girlfriend Shelby Wilson, Memphis, TN; brothers Greig Hartman, Las Vegas, NV; Steven Smith, Geneva, Switzerland; Wade Smith, Richmond, VA; and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of long-time friends. He was a member at Bartlett United Methodist Church.
Scott''s family would like to thank the caring staff of 3North Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown, TN and the compassionate nurses with Methodist Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Methodist Healthcare Foundation Hospice www.methodisthealth.org/give. Visitation will be held at Bartlett United Methodist Church on Sunday March 29th from 1-3 pm with the service following in the small chapel at 3 pm. Burial will be at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, MD.
