Sgt. Charles "Michael" Blankenship, 69, of Horn Lake, MS formerly of Memphis passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch, MS. Sgt. Blankenship retired from the Shelby County Sherriff''s Department where he worked at the jail division for over 25 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven. Michael was preceded in death by his parents: Charles M. and Minnie Blankenship and his brother, James Blankenship. He leaves his wife of 30 years, Shirley Blankenship; one daughter, Robin Kampmeinert (John) of Dupo, IL; two sons: Michael Blankenship (Kim) of Waterloo, IL and Robert Butch McKee (Mandy) of Katy, TX; one sister, Charlotte Carver of Cordova; two brothers: Mark Blankenship (Bobbi) of Southaven and Kelley Blankenship (Joyce) of New Iberia, LA; also 7 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials are sent to the American Heart Association. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2 at Forest Hill South with service immediately following. Burial will be in Forest Hill South Cemetery.
