Obituary

Sharon Ledbetter was born in Memphis on October 29th, 1956 to Tom and Fay Wessels. She attended Whitehaven High School and after graduating went on to get her associates degree from the Memphis Business College and several years later went to Memphis State for her Bachelors in Management Information Systems.

Sharon met Calvin "Pete" Ledbetter in Memphis and married on October 23rd 1976. In their first years of marriage she worked various jobs around Memphis while Pete started his career at the Illinois Central Railroad. She quickly found her work-passion in IT and retired from Smith and Nephew in 2012 after a long successful career with a number of companies in Memphis.

Although she was passionate about work her first love was serving the church and her family. In 1985, Pete and Sharon moved from Whitehaven to Collierville and became active at Collierville First Baptist Church on the square. For twenty years Pete and Sharon taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, performed in the annual Christmas program, hosted the youth group in their home,  and served in various roles at CFBC.

Sharon was a boy mom and loved everything about it. Her and Pete raised their two boys Matt and Mark in Collierville and enjoyed participating in all the sports and community events throughout the years.  During the summers the family spent time going to the beach and even drove across the country several times to see her brother in San Diego. She was a great mom and a great lady who truly had it all.

After the boys graduated and left the house Pete and Sharon continued their service ministry across several churches in the midsouth where Pete led worship and Sharon took on roles like bookkeeping and teaching women's classes. In their senior years, Sharon and Pete enjoyed vacationing  to the gulf coast visiting Biloxi, Destin, Panama City Beach, and Anna Maria Island.

For the last ten years she fought a number of challenges with her health including cancer and other diseases. She spoke frequently and fondly about being in heaven with Jesus in a new body.

Sharon is survived by her husband Pete Ledbetter, her brother Thomas Wessels Jr (Kim), her son Matt Ledbetter (Stephanie), her son Mark Ledbetter (Katie), her niece Arin Wiggins, and six grandchildren Camdyn, Christian, and Camryn (Matt and Stephanie) and Maggie, Charlie, and Reese (Mark and Katie)
