Joy Jones (82), passed away on July 27, 2018 at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital in Olive Branch, MS. She was born on April 23, 1936 in Tyler, MO to Arthur Frank and Beulah May (Barger) Wagner. She was a loving and devoted mother, and homemaker who valued family aboveall else. She enjoyed numerous activities from cooking and collecting cook books to sewing, quilting, and embroidery. She made numerous outfits for her children and granddaughters, and would embark on designing and making a quilt for each new member of the family. She loved reading novels and was constantly recycling her books to share the adventures with friends. Joy enjoyed frugal shopping, and made a point to regularly visit flea markets, and Goodwill and Salvation Army stores to see if she could find any hidden treasures. Shortly after graduating from high school in Cooter, MO she secretly eloped with her high school sweetheart and future husband, F. W. "Frank" (affectionately known by his close friends and family as Panky) Jones. They married on February 3, 1955 in Hernando, MS. Joy and Frank were a team. They planned a yearly garden, and when crops were ripe, they would work together to cook or can the bounties of their harvest. These crops would show up on the Sunday dinner table where Joy encouraged the family to gather each week. The meals were fresh, healthy and plentiful in the love she had for her family. Joy's and Frank's morning rituals included a joint onslaught of the Sudoku puzzle in the daily paper. She freely admitted that she did not understand the detailed strategies for solving the puzzle, but she had an innate sense about which number should go into each square. If she sought further distractions, she and Frank might challenge themselves with a jigsaw puzzle, or Joy might venture out into her rose garden to prune the plants or pick a bouquet for the dining table. Her summer patio was a sight to behold with a wide variety of plants and colors that could be enjoyed by human and bird alike, and she could identify each avian visitor by name. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, by her eldest son, Byron K. Jones, by her infant sister, Sarah Jo, and by her foster brother, Waymon Cook. She is survived by her husband, by her daughter, Lisa G. Jones (Stephen Browning), and by her youngest son, Adam W. Jones all of Olive Branch, MS; her sister, Peggy Holmes of Cooter, MO, her foster sister, Jane Hollis of Columbia, TN, her grandchildren: Kristin (Jonathan) Bramlett of Memphis, TN, and Ashley Jones of Southaven, MS, and her great grand-children, Cooper Wes Bramlett, and Ivy Grace Bramlett along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Burial will be at Forest Hill Memorial Park South. Graveside services will be held at noon on Monday (7/30/2018).
