Shirley Jean (Mathis) Hensley of Bartlett, TN passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026 at The Pinnacle of Southaven Senior Living at the age of 80. She was born in Ripley, MS to Walter Mallie Mathis and Rubye Lee Waldon Mathis on August 23, 1945. She graduated from Humes High School in Memphis, TN. She worked for several years for Chickasaw Land Investment as a Mini Storage Manager in Memphis, TN. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Goldwing Biker Club. She was a member of The Salvation Army church where she met lifelong friends. Shirley, known by her family as Jean, loved art, cooking for her family, and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rubye Mathis, her husband, Leslie Hensley, her sisters Katherine Mathis and Peggy (Mathis) Hudson, and her brothers, Bobby Mathis and Leroy Mathis. She is survived by her brother Walter (Linda) Mathis, Jr.; Nieces, Melanie (Paul) Brackett of Georgia, Amiee Mathis of Bartlett, Catrina (Mike) Stevenson of Alabama, Hollie Latham of Rossville, and Mallory (Ben) Walker of Mississippi; Nephew, Josh Hudson of Texas; and great nieces and nephews, Brianna, Mallie, Alyssa, Elijah, Mathis, Raylea, Andrew, Brennen, and great- great- nephew Owen.

Funeral Services will be held at Forest Hill East, 2400 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN 38133 on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Visitation will be from 1 pm to 2 pm. Funeral will begin at 2 pm with a Graveside service following. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by The Pinnacle of Southaven. If desired, friends may send flowers or make a donation to The Salvation Army in memory of Shirley.
