IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Sue
Pulley
September 23, 1937 – January 22, 2024
Shirley Sue (Chrestman) Pulley was born to Dewel and Willie (Young) Chrestman, September 23, 1937 in Houlka, MS. A small farm community in Caltoun County Mississippi. She moved around the community with her parents but went to Bruce High School where she graduated in 1955. She left this world January 22, 2024 at the age of 86. She was a faithful member of the Lord's Church at Raleigh, East Frayser and Rosemark. She has been laying up treasures in heaven where she longed to go.
She leaves her husband Kenneth of 67 years; her son Ken (Hilarie) Pulley; her daughter Leslie (Dale) Muntz; grandchildren, Logan Drake, Grayson Wayne, Lucy Pulley, Jessica Muntz, Deemie (Dylan) Whitehead and the baby of the family, Stephanie Muntz.
She was preceded in death by her dad and mother Dewel & Willie; and all of her siblings, Geneva (Bill) Hines, Marcelle Chrestman, Leodis (Ernestine) Chrestman, Elmo Chrestman and Carolyn (Mike) Pirtie.
She came to Memphis after graduating High School where she attended a business school then began her work career at Sears Crosstown, in the Mail Order Credit Dept. She worked there until Ken was born and then went back for a period of time. She then worked as a secretary at Hi Speed Electric in Frayser , and as a teacher's aide at Harding Academy-Union Ave and Harding Academy-East Frayser.
She was a really good seamstress. When she was old enough, she made all of her dresses. She continued to sew for herself and when Leslie came along, she really enjoyed sewing for her. She also sewed for the public for a while. Most of the ladies that worked for the Union Planters Bank in Frayser Plaza kept her busy sewing for them. She was a good Bible school teacher with the younger children.
Kenneth was an elder for some time at both East Frayser and Rosemark and she was a good elder's wife.
Lastly, she was a long time secretary at East Frayser Church of Christ. She worked there until the Alzheimer progressed to the point she could no longer function. She was laid to rest at Forest Hill East Cemetery.
