IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sophia Ada
Sanders
November 3, 1941 – February 5, 2026
Sophia "Faye" Sanders, age 84, passed away on February 5, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee.
She was born November 3, 1941, in Charleston, South Carolina, and was raised in Walterboro, South Carolina. Proud of her Greek heritage through her father, she would often share with a smile, "I'm Greek!"—a reflection of the pride she carried throughout her life.
As a young woman, she met Roy Sanders Jr., who was serving in the United States Marine Corps at the time. Following his service, they moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where they began their life together and raised their family.
A hardworking and dedicated woman, Faye later owned and operated a Hub Cap Annie shop for many years, where she became known for her strong work ethic and the many relationships she built with customers and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Anastad; her mother, Orvilla Anastad; her husband, Roy Sanders Jr.; her grandson, John Jenkins; and her devoted partner of 30 years and the love of her life, Bill Bowers.
She is survived by her loving children: Roy Sanders III and his wife, Betty Sanders; John Sanders and his wife, Kim Sanders; and daughter, Lisa Sanders Velto. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Gino Velto and his wife, Syndey Velto; Rachel Bone and her husband, Michael Bone; Emily Galbreath and her husband, Christopher Galbreath; and Shawn Jenkins and his wife, Jennifer Jenkins, along with their seven children and four grandchildren. She was further blessed with great-grandson Bennett and great-granddaughter Addie.
Faye will be remembered for her independence, dedication to her family, her pride in her heritage, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
