Obituary

Stephen Carl Wacaster

Stephen Carl Wacaster, 79, of Nesbit, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Steve was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on August 21, 1947, to Carl and Eddie Wacaster. He was the eldest of three children. Steve graduated from Oakhaven High School and attended Memphis University. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2007 after 41 years of service.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eddie Wacaster, and his sister, Becky.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Connie (Leigh Wilbourn); his daughter, Stephanie (Robin Pack); and his son, Steve.

He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Nikki (Trent Plaisance), Terra, Zach, and Nova; and his four great-grandchildren: Audra, Max, Declan, and Maddie.

He is survived by his sister, Annette (Tommy Hairston), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was his family. He leaves behind countless wonderful memories and stories that will be told for a lifetime.

He was best known for his role as Granddaddy. His grandchildren were his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Steve never met a stranger and always knew how to light up a room with his smile. He also had a love for fast cars and motorcycles, and was particularly proud of his Corvettes.

Steve was loved by so many and will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Forrest Hill Cemetery East on Whitten Road. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m.
