Sybil G. Goodman, 85, of West Point, MS was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2025.

Sybil was born on August 9, 1939 in Una, MS to James Preston Hathcock & Mary Annie Huffman Hathcock. She was the sixth and last sibling—the proud baby sister to James Reed, Ruth Marie, Annie Virginia, Betty Adell & Mary Louise.

The family moved between Una, McCondy & Houston, MS where she attended school & continued to attend & enjoy reunions with classmates up until just last year. Work took Sybil to Memphis, TN in the early 1960s where she was employed in a men's clothing store. She was introduced by a mutual friend, and soon thereafter married, to Joshua Clark Goodman, Jr. on Nov. 17, 1962. Together, they had three beautiful children-Jeffrey Clark, Teresa Gayle & Lynda Lee.

Sybil worked in later years as a self-employed housekeeper for several families and formed friendships with many of those which have transcended time and distance. Mimi & Pop were beyond proud of their two grandchildren. Joshua Preston Jones & Carrie Renée Goodman always knew they were #1 in the hearts of these two.

Sybil was preceded in death by her husband, JC Goodman, Jr, parents Preston & Mary Hathcock, siblings James Hathcock, Marie Harrelson, Virginia Orman, & Betty Stone.

Survivors include her children Jeff (Nichole) Goodman of Johnson City, TN; Teresa Goodman of West Point, MS; Lynda Goodman of Traverse City, MI; grandchildren Preston Jones of Traverse City, MI and Carrie Goodman of Johnson City, TN and one sister Louise Stewart of Greenbrier, TN.

She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who were near and dear to Sybil's heart. Services will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park East in Memphis, TN on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Pallbearers will be David Orman, Chris Orman, Kevin Price, Reagan Lewis, Drew Price & Lofton Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Stone & Jeff Goodman.

Officiating the service is Sybil's nephew, Rev. Roger Orman.. Visitation will be at 1pm with services immediately following at 2pm.
