Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Teresa Marie Layton Martin passed away in her home peacefully on Friday, November 24th at 4:20pm following a long battle. Her family, Julia and Lauren, were steadfast at Teresa's side in her last hours. Teresa was born in New York, New York on Wednesday, September 7th, 1960. Teresa was a hard working sales woman and delivery driver, who served the Memphis community in many ways. She volunteered with the homeless and opened her home to anyone in need. Teresa was 63 at the time of her passing.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Teresa Ann; her eldest sister, Helene; and her eldest son, James Terry Martin, Jr.

Teresa is mourned by her surviving siblings, David and Charles Layton; her ex-husband, James and his wife Cathy; her surviving children and their spouses, Julia, Bo and Barbi, and Thomas and Lauren. Teresa will be especially missed by her many grandchildren, Aaron (Kaitlyn), Lauren (Blake), Alexus (Lance), Chayton, Kaden, Joseph, Luke, Sam, Casten, as well as her eagerly awaited great granddaughter. She will also be greatly missed by her many friends and the many people who she has taken in and helped during her, all too short, lifetime. Teresa had an impact on all who knew her.

Visitation for friends and family of Teresa Martin will be at the Forest Hill Funeral Home at 2440 Whitten Rd. Memphis, Tn. December 2nd, 2023 from 10am to 11am with a celebration of life to follow at Grace Chapel Church at 828 Berclair Rd. Memphis, Tn at 12 noon. Catering to be provided.
