Obituary

Thelma Lee Moten, 90, of Memphis, TN passed away Thursday October 29, 2015. Thelma was born November 14, 1924, to the late Mr. Teal Echols and Mrs. Lucie Conners of Byhalia, Mississippi. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age. She married the late Mr. Eddie Duncan and raised four beautiful daughters. Later, she moved to Memphis, TN and married Mr. Theo Moten and raised eight more lovely children.

Thelma was a dedicated wife, lovely mother and precious grandmother. Thelma worked diligently along with her husband to make sure the family was taken care of. She joined First Baptist Mt. Olive Church where she served as a faithful servant for more than 62 years. Along with her love and dedication to the church, Thelma had a passion for sewing, cooking, singing, and entertaining her neighbors and friends. She was also a member of a phenomenal all ladies club "Orchard". Lastly, Mrs. Thelma Lee Moten retired from Kirby Pines Estates as a caregiver and continued enjoying her family and friends even more.

Our mother was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Moten: daughters Betty Duncan and Carla MotenÍ father, Teal EcholsÍ mother, Ludie ConnersÍ grandchildren: Whitney Harris, Gina Patterson, and Marcus Duncan and Vincent WashingtonÍ great-grandchildren: Kendrick Lee Moten and Donte Coleman. She is survived by her children: Eula Duncan, Ludia Swann, Gail Wilson, Jerry Moten (Martha), Kenneth Moten (Brenda), Gwendolyn Laws (Calven), Norland Moten (Alice), Tina Moten, Jeffery Moten, and Theodore Moten MichelleÍ 28 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and 24 great great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Friday November 6, 2015 with a funeral to follow Saturday morning at 11:00. Services will be held at First Baptist Mount Olive with interment to follow at New Park Cemetery.
