Obituary

Henderson, TN - Theresa Lea Gurley Seaton (Tweeter), age 68, died Thursday morning, Dec. 14, 2017 at home after a long illness.

Tweeter was born April 16, 1949, and reared in Memphis, the daughter of Maurice Edsel Gurley and Lois Gurley. She grew up in the Summer Avenue area and attended Wells Station Elementary, Kingsbury High, and Memphis Tech. She graduated with many honors including Student Council, State Officer and Convention Delegate, along with vice president of VICA.

Shortly after graduation, on April 26, 1972, Tweeter married her high school sweetheart, Billy Joe Seaton. They made their home in Memphis for 32 years until Bill retired from UT Health Sciences in 2004. They moved to Henderson to begin their country retired life.

Tweeter worked several years as a cosmetologist, and as a bookkeeper at Marcoin/Fidual Services. She also enjoyed working at Memphis Contact Lenses even dealing with the illness of cancer. She later retired from the University of Memphis from the Life Sciences Dept.

Tweeter became a young member of the Grey Rd. Baptist Church and enjoyed playing the piano for the congregation. She later moved to Mt. Terrace Baptist Church. Tweeter and Bill together joined the Woodlawn No. 74 Eastern Star in 1972. Tweeter served many years as organist and became Worthy Matron.

Tweeter shared God''s love and devotion serving over 200 girls of the Intl. Rainbow Girls as Mother Advisor. She was "so loved" by the teenage girls for many years and even today. Tweeter also aided Bill with many of his projects including train shows.

Tweeter was such a creative artist, you could find her on any day knitting a scarf, hat or making a special gift for a family member or friend. Over the years, she really also enjoyed cooking, camping and motorcycling with Bill. She always cherished time spent in many family reunions, with many close cousins and family members that reached out to her throughout the years.

After moving to the country, she and Bill acquired many loving and contributing pets, including goats, chickens and their puppy dogs. It was quite often one might see Tweeter sitting out in a lawn chair reading her knook with chickens sitting on her shoulder or lap with the goats and puppies watching close by.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Seaton of 49 years; step-mother and close friend, Marge Gurley of Bartlett; two brothers: Steve (Heather), Michael (Allison); two nieces: Lauren, Ashley; tow nephews: Connor, Sam; mother-in-law, Melba Seaton and sister-in-law, Gwen Seaton. And of course, her two babies, Charlie Brown and Spankey.
