Therrell Pressgrove, 87, was born in Paynes, MS on October 10, 1931.  He was the fifth child of six born to Malcolm D. and Myrtle Pressgrove.  He grew up in a time when it was hard to make ends meet.  He would tell stories about seeing snow fall through the roof and onto his bed.  This gave him the motivation to become an unstoppable force throughout
his life, and the humility to begin a family filled with love and devotion to the Lord.  Therrell attended Memphis State University Business School for three years. He also enlisted in the Army in 1953 and served three years, two of which he spent in Germany.  In 1956, he went to work for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company.  This is where he met his soulmate, Marcell Sumner.  They courted for six months before getting married on August 30th, 1958.  They celebrated 60 years of marriage this year.  Together, they started their own business, Pressgrove Insurance Agency, and later incorporated to United Insurance Service, lnc., which they sold in 1998, after 40 years of hard work.  He brought many young men and women into the insurance industry that are still thriving today.  He also hired many family and friends over the years and generously shared his success.  Therrell has been a member of Germantown Baptist Church since 1994.  Before that, he was a member of Briarcrest Baptist Church for fifteen years, where he served as a Deacon, a member of several committees that headstarted their school, and took part in many missionary trips, such as the one to Africa in 1975.  He was preceded in death by four of his five siblings, and one  great-grandchild, Brendon Tyler Pressgrove-Gay.  Therrell is survived by his wife, Marcell Pressgrove; son, Dwight Pressgrove; daughter, Denise Pressgrove-Boyd; grandchildren, Bryan O'Byrnes, Sarah Klibert, and Katie Pressgrove-Gay; and six great-grandchildren, Mason, Hayden, Cody, Lily, Alaina, and Rebecca, all of the greater Memphis area.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to a cause of your choice in his honor.
