Thomas Edward Hutchins, 79 passed away on August 25, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Tommy will be missed by all who knew him.

Thomas Edward Hutchins was born on April 8, 1947, in New Orleans. He enlisted in the Army in January of 1967. Shortly after enlisting in the Army, he married the love of his life, Mary Helen Hutchins from Belzoni, Mississippi in 1968. In 1970, they moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Tommy was a machinist for the cotton gin and loved being family historian. He was able to trace his lineage back to 1600's.

Tommy was an active and longtime member of Hope Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS which was formerly Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. He volunteered and served on several different committees throughout the years. One thing is for certain, Tommy loved Jesus and attending Hope Baptist Church.

Thomas Edward Hutchins is survived by his son Mike Hutchins and his wife Regina, his other son Jason Hutchins and his wife Lisa, his eight grandchildren: Peter, Rebekah, Naomi, Hannah, Madelyn, Abigail, Chloe, and Natalie, his three great grandchildren River, Joshua Jr., and Lili Rose.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Thomas H. Hutchins and Bobbie Racca, his wife Mary Helen Hutchins and daughter Connie R. Hutchins, and grandson Matthew Hutchins.

The Hutchins family would like to thank Dr. Duong, Dr. Patel, and all the other nurses at Baptist Desoto Hospital. Their professionalism and compassion will forever be appreciated by us all.

Funeral Services for Thomas Edward Hutchins will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Hope Baptist Church (6800 Center Hill Rd Olive Branch, MS 38654). Visitation will be from 10-11am on September 1, 2026, at Hope Baptist Church with his service following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hope Baptist Church in his name.
