Thomas Murrell McMullin or "Mac" as he was affectionately called by family and friends, age 86, passed away peacefully in his home in Hernando, MS on October 3, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born April 30, 1937, in Hickman, KY to John S. and Fannie (Bass) McMullin, who preceded him in death.
Mac is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gloria Jean McMullin and; daughters, Nancy Huddleston of Walls, MS, Cheryl Davis of Pontotoc, MS, Lynda (Dean) Oglesby of Millington, TN, two stepsons, Keith (Julie) Johnson of Southaven, MS and Chip (Christy) Johnson of Hernando, MS; sister, Kay (Steve) Jones of Memphis, TN; brother-in-law, Robert (Peggy) Turner of Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Cox, Andrew (Cassie) Jobe, Kirby Oglesby, Nick (Renee) Huddleston, Jessi Huddleston, Max Huddleston, Ashlyn Huddleston, Keefer Johnson, Kevin Johnson and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Barbara Turner McMullin; brothers, Jackie McMullin, Gerald McMullin; sisters, Joan Mayse, Wilma Cole, Patsy Naef and many other special friends and family members.
Mac worked as an electrician for many years and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers since 1959. He was a veteran of the US Army and served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, line dancing and danced at National Conventions and festivals across the U.S. He was an avid gardener and spent most of his days working in his beautiful yard and garden. He liked to shop estate sales and garage sales and he loved a good bargain.
Family will receive friends and guests, Friday, October 6, 2023, 10:30am - 11:55am with services to begin at 12:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Graceland Christian Church located at 2126 Stateline Rd. E., Southaven, MS. 38672. The graveside service will be held immediately following the funeral service at Forest Hill Memorial Park South located at 2545 E. Holmes Rd., Memphis, TN 38118.
