Thomas M. Melton of Heber Springs, AR died May 27, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born September 27, 1925 in Choctaw County, MS, son of James T. Melton and Sylvester Murphy Melton. Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his son, Donald F. Melton of Heber Springs, AR; daughter, Marcia M. Dye also of Heber Springs; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. At the age of 17 he joined the U.S. Navy, in World War II, he served in the Pacific and participated in five island invasions. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1951 and was also a graduate of the LSU School of Banking. Mr. Melton retired in 1990 after forty years in banking. Visitation will be 5-7 P.M., Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 P.M., Friday at the funeral home with entombment in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
