IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Lynn
Scobey
November 29, 1933 – August 10, 2024
On August 10, 2024, Thomas Lynn Scobey went home to be with the Lord and his loved ones who passed before him. Thomas was known as Tommy, Daddy, Papaw, Bud, and Uncle Bud. Tommy was born on November 29, 1933.
He was a quiet Christian man dedicated to his family. He enjoyed listening to Billy Graham, Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah and others. He found all his old favorites on the Radio or YouTube. He loved southern gospel music. The original Gaither's were his favorite. He was raised on the family farm in the small community of Woodville near Ripley, Tennessee. He joined the US Army at the age of 21. After the Army, he moved to Memphis and joined the Sheet Metal Mechanics Union Local 4. He married Davie Helen Brownlee on August 2, 1957, and they were together 42 years before her passing in December 1999. He retired in 1998 to care for Davie Helen, the last year of her life.
Tommy leaves behind 5 daughters, Deborah Murphy (Ronnie) of Bartlett, TN, Linda McClure, Pam Scobey, and Lisa Cianciolo of Olive Branch, MS, and Sandra Bechel of Collierville, TN. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, his faithful German Shepherd, Bo, and sisters Joyce Lankford of Ripley, TN, and Nancy Greer of Germantown, TN.
He enjoyed traveling all over the country in the pop-up camper every summer with his wife and his five girls. His love for the outdoors and animals came from growing up on the farm, picking cotton, harvesting corn, and raising chickens, pigs, cows, and the family dogs.
Tommy leaves his family with many happy and precious memories.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Davie Helen Scobey, granddaughter Melissa Bechel, sons-in-law, Mark Bechel and Jeffrey Cianciolo, parents Huburt and Blanche Scobey, and brother Curtis Scobey.
The family requests that donations to Reynolds Baptist Hospice House or the Charity of your choice in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated.
