Tommie Lou Morgan Vaughn, age 95, of Milan, Tennessee, died of a sudden illness on July 29, 2023. Tommie was born in Sharon, Tennessee, on August 1, 1927. She was a 1945 graduate of Sharon High School and afterwards went on to earn a certificate from Memphis School of Commerce and later studied at the University of Memphis. Tommie was to married James Willard Vaughn for over 77 years. She spent most of her professional career working for Ford Motor Company in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon retirement she and James moved to Milan, Tennessee in 1985.
Tommie was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Milan and spent countless hours in bible study, art classes, and home demonstration club sponsored events. She was a fan of the University of Memphis Sports and the Milan Bulldogs. Tommie is survived by her husband James Vaughn, their two daughters Linda Palmer (Russell) of Bartlett and Marilyn Goodman (Brent) of Milan, brother-in-law Charles Wright of Sharon, four grandchildren Jeff Palmer of Chattanooga; James Palmer of Bartlett; Meredith McKeel and Melanie Morales (Derek) all of Milan; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Bula Mae Lackey Morgan and Loy Raymond Morgan, and sister Betty Morgan Wright all of Weakley County, Tennessee.
Visitation and funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 3, at First United Methodist Church in Milan. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial service will take place at Forrest Hill Midtown Cemetery on Elvis Presley Boulevard in Memphis. Pastor Marty Arnold will be officiating. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Red Bird Mission Inc., 70 Queensdale Center, Beverly, Kentucky, where Tommie enjoyed volunteering.
