Tommie L. Pumphrey, Jr., 88, of Memphis, TN died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his home. He was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Washington, a member of Arbor Grove Baptist Church in Houston, MS, and retired from Conley Frog and Switch Company. Mr. Pumphrey was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Pumphrey; son, Melvin "Smitty" Pumphrey and grandson, John. He is survived by his sons, William "Danny" Pumphrey of Memphis, TN, Kenneth Dewey Pumphrey (Deborah) of Cordova, Terry Lynn Pumphrey (Donna) of Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren, Bill, Mary, Marie, David, Kim Bridgette, Phillip, Amber, Caryl Anne, Chelsea and T.J.; great-grandchildren, Emily, Anna, Olivia, Faith, "Lil" John, John Preston, Tatum, Cheynne, Dustin, Shelby, and Nathalie; and great-grandchildren, Audrena, Aubrey, Triston and Johathan. Mr. Pumphrey is also survived by his brothers, William "Billy" Pumphrey (Barbara) of Nantee, MS and Floyd Pumphrey (Rachel) of Woodland, MS. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Forest Hill South Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with interment to follow.
