Obituary

Vernon Eugene Campbell passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025. He was born on April 15,1936 in Gary, Indiana to the late Earnest and Ellen Campbell.

Vernon graduated from high school in Crown Point, Indiana and immediately joined the Marines. He served four years of active duty and four years in the reserves. While stationed at the Naval Air Base in Millington, he met Bennie Eaton at the USO club and they married a year later. After the Marines he began a 35 year career at DuPont Chemical Plant. He also maintained his own yard business before and after his retirement. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and attending their sporting events well into his eighties. He was a lifelong member of Raleigh Church of Christ which later became Bartlett Woods Church of Christ. He served for many years as a deacon volunteering in the Youth Ministry, building maintenance, and printing the church bulletin. He loved playing sports and often coached his children's teams. He passed his love of sports and outdoors on to his children.

Vernon is preceded in death by his two brothers and three sisters.

Vernon leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 68 years, Bennie Campbell;  daughters, Brenda Garner (Ken) of Cordova, Tennessee and Carla Ward (Joe) of Lakeland, Tennessee; son, Randy Campbell, of Crown Point, New Mexico; sister, Jean Demmon of Merriville, Indiana; Grandchildren, Ben Garner (Sara), Kate Hancock (Brad), Reese Campbell (Sammy), Ryan Campbell (Sarah), Ross Campbell (Kimberly), Brandon Ward (Kylee), Jackson Ward (Brooke); and great-grandchildren, Joshua Garner, Willa Hancock, Everley Campbell, Rylan Davis, Murphy Campbell, Lina Campbell, Campbell Ward and Ozzie Ward.
