Virgil L. Sawyer, Jr., 98, passed away on June 1, 2019 in Bartlett, TN.  Mr. Sawyer was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, Philippine Liberation.  He had retired from MATA after 29 years of being a bus driver for the City of Memphis.  He was preceded in death by his 1 ^st wife; Carrie Sawyer, 2 ^nd wife; Margie Sawyer; and two grandchildren, James Allen Sawyer, Jr. and Carrie Munns.  Left to honor his memory are his son, Larry James (Sherry) Sawyer; and sister, Lois S. Orman.  Mr. Sawyer was blessed with three grandchildren, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  Visitation with his family will be on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. ~ 2:00 p.m., with funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. with military honors at Forest Hill Funeral Home, East on Whitten Road. 901-382-1000
