Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Virginia Burchfield, who departed this life peacefully on May 12th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.

Born in Potts Camp, Mississippi on August 14th, 1934, Virginia lived a life marked by compassion, grace, and unwavering strength. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, she touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.

Virginia loved everyone including her time spent at First Evangelical Church in the nursery for over 20 years. She spent countless hours pouring love into the children.

She is survived by her sister Sue Williams, her son Jerry Burchfield, daughter and son in law, Janet and Kevin Scheuner; as well as three grandchildren who meant the world to her-Jordan, Justin [Shelby], and Elizabeth, and preceded in death by her husband Dewey Burchfield and daughter Anita Kay. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the values she instilled in those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home at 2440 Whitten Road on Wednesday May 14th 5-7pm followed by a graveside service Thursday May 15th at Forest Hill Memorial Park South at 2545 East Holmes Road at 10 am. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories of a truly remarkable woman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dorothy's Place, the Memphis Jewish Home or First Evangelical Church in her honor.

Virginia will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
