Virginia Eva Janes Simpson, Southaven Mississippi entered into the presence of her Savior on April 12, 2018 at the age of 87 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital, Southaven Mississippi. She was born on September 28, 1930 at Chalybeate Mississippi to Lee and Evie Janes. Virginia graduated from Ashland High School as the Valedictorian Class of 1948. This is where she met the love of her life, Luther Neil Simpson whom she married on December 20, 1947.

Virginia was a longtime member of both Victory Heights Baptist Church, Memphis Tennessee and First Baptist Southaven, Southaven Mississippi. She taught Sunday School for many years at both churches as well as Bible Study Fellowship. In addition to her role as loving wife, mother and doting grandmother she held positions at Pepsi, Doyle Typewriters, MidSouth Office Machines, and as the Office Manager for both Dr. James Wakham and Dr. Nancy Crutcher whom she loved like family. Virginia was a big part of the blanket ministry at FBC, "Hope Faithful Stitchers". She served on the Pastor Search and Benevolence committees as well as many other ministries of the church.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Luther Neil Simpson, Baby Boy Simpson, parents Lee and Evie Janes, brother JE Janes, sister Bessie Lee Dodd and granddaughter Allison (Ally) Cisowski.

She is survived by two sons and four daughters, Joe (Shelia) Simpson of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Robert (Betty) Simpson of Ashland Mississippi, Sherry (David) Foster of Southaven Mississippi, Dottie (Rick) Cisowski of Blue Springs Mississippi, Laura (Mike) Melton of Horn Lake Mississippi and Ruth (Rick) Blood of Oldsmar Florida. Her legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Virginia held a special place in her heart for her niece, Evie Greer of Southaven Mississippi who she considered one of her own.

Virginia has filled thousands of hearts, warmed many souls and impacted so many lives as she followed God's plan for her life. Her faith in Jesus Christ was not theoretical or detached; it was a living faith in a living Savior. Such dynamic faith produced tremendous works of righteousness.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Southaven Mississippi on Monday, April 16, 2018. Family Visitation 10-11am, Friends and Family Visitation 11am-1pm and Funeral following at 1pm. Interment at Ashland Cemetery Ashland Mississippi.
