Virginia Mae Simpson Harrison, 98, entered into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, William M. Harrison, Sr. (Bill) who passed away in 1992; her parents, Sherwood Simpson and Bernice Wallin; her brother, Jim Simpson and his wife, Billie Jean; her sister, Jane S. Reddell, and her husband, David; and her granddaughter, Jessica Beth Harrison.
Virginia was born on January 10, 1922 in Pine Bluff, AR. She and Bill met at Pine Bluff High School, were married on July 2, 1942 and moved to Memphis, TN where they raised 5 children.
Virginia's greatest joys were serving the Lord and raising her children. She belonged to the Garden Club, served as a discussion leader for many years in Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study. She and Bill led a group of young professionals at Bellevue Baptist Church and also participated in several mission outreaches. Virginia served in many volunteer capacities at Bellevue and Faith Baptist Church where she was a member.
Virginia loved watching birds from her kitchen window, and she wrote a book for her grandchildren entitled, "Mimi's Birds Talk."
She is survived by 5 children, William M. Harrison, Jr. and his wife Judith, of Franklin, TN; Gregory T. Harrison and his wife, Linda, of Stillwater, OK; Barry H. Harrison and his wife, Suzanne, of Little Rock, AR; Lynelle Harrison Cobb and her husband, Rev. Gary Cobb, of Fort Mill, SC; and Timothy O. Harrison and his wife, Michelle, of Somerville, TN. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
