IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Maupin
Pruitt
January 26, 1931 – October 11, 2025
Virginia Maupin Pruitt, known as "Tootie" to family and friends, passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on January 26, 1931, to Crate and Georgia Maupin, Virginia grew up surrounded by her siblings Gertrude Keating, Billie Jo Carter, Elmer Maupin, and Shirley Crews, all of whom preceded her in death. Virginia was a life-long resident of Memphis. She graduated from Southside High School in 1949 and went on to dedicate more than 25 years of service to Union Planters Bank. She also worked at Chicago Title and later at Waverly Gardens Retirement Community, where her kindness and work ethic touched many lives. She was married to Wallace Pruitt, who passed away in 2008. Virginia was a longtime member of Forest Hill Baptist Church, where she found joy and fellowship in her faith community. Virginia is survived by her nieces Sharon Hardy (Cleveland, GA) and Susan Phillips (Monroe, GA), and her nephew Rob Carter (Long Beach, CA). She will be remembered for her love of crafting and roller skating, hobbies that brought her happiness and allowed her to share her creativity with others. She was a skilled skate dancer and was frequently the feature entertainment at the Rainbow Roller Rink. Virginia's warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
