IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia South
Ramsey
July 19, 1937 – October 30, 2025
Virginia South Ramsey, 88 years old, went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. "Jim" Ramsey, III.
Please join us for A Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 9th, at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 5300 Hwy 194, Rossville, TN 38066, from 2:00–5:00 pm (Service will be at 2:00pm). Guests are invited to share a special memory in honor of Gina's life and the joy she brought to those around her.
Virginia was born in Booneville, Mississippi, but lived in Memphis, Tennessee for the majority of her life. For many years, she and Jim were faithful members of Bellevue Baptist Church. The last several years, they made their home in Oakland, Tennessee with her daughter, Susan and at that time they loved attending and being part of the family of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Virginia loved her family dearly and took great joy in raising her three daughters — enjoying quiet moments and sharing in tears and laughter. She was known as Gina to most and to a special few, Aunt Gina. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as, Huggie — a name earned through her warm hugs and loving spirit. This was clearly shown from Tea Parties to carefully and prayerfully chosen Bible Verses for each child.
For more than 30 years, Gina served faithfully with Young Life, where she formed lifelong friendships. Surrounded by a lively group of young pranksters, she fit right in — laughing, encouraging, and sharing Jesus in her own loving and genuine way. Her steady presence and sparkling humor made her a beloved member of the Young Life family and a light to countless young people who crossed her path.
She is survived by her daughters: Lisa McLeod (Frank), Sandra Neyman (Todd), and Susan Lampley; her siblings: Delma Chiek, Donnis South, and Rhonda Caylor (Don); her grandchildren: Allison Butler, Beau McLeod, Rachel Guenther, and Audrey Treadway; and her seven great-grandchildren.
Gina touched many hearts, and her presence brought comfort, laughter, and love wherever she went. Her legacy lives on in her family and in the friendships, she cherished, the faith she lived so naturally, and the countless lives she encouraged along the way. She is deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
A private Graveside Service will be held at Forest Hill East, Monday November 10 at 10:00am for family only.
