Virginia Page Roper After a brief illness, Mrs. Roper, aged 96, heard the call of her Lord and Savior and at her residence in St. Augustine, FL, joined Him in Heaven on November 8, 2014. She was born in W. Helena, AR on June 19, 1918 to Charles and Chloe Page, the second of four children. Following a family move to Oklahoma, she skipped a grade in school, graduating at 16 where she attended two years at Oklahoma A&M, now known as Oklahoma State University. The family moved to Memphis, TN where Mrs. Roper began a career that spanned over 60 years as a legal secretary. Mrs. Roper was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting and needlework. She had beautiful handwriting, took the most perfect shorthand in her legal profession, and was meticulous and deliberate in all endeavors. She wrote beautiful, moving and spiritual poetry and recently completed a compilation of her life''s poetic writings, passing her poems out to family and friends, shortly before her death. Mrs. Roper was a devout Christian, was filled with the Holy Spirit and loved her Lord Jesus. She was never angry or sad and was patient, kind and loving. In her work and witness for the Lord, she taught Sunday School for many years and at different churches. At the time of her death, she was a member of Fruit Cove Baptist Church, St John''s FL.
