Vivian Ann
Griffin
Dec 16, 1949 — Dec 10, 2018
Memphis
2 Timothy 4:6-8 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
On December 16, 1949, the eighth child of the late Ben and Elsie Williamson was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Vivian accepted Christ at an early age and continued her spiritual journey at Temple of Deliverance COGIC.
Vivian was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School of Memphis, Tennessee. She later married her high school sweetheart, Johnny R. Griffin, Sr. on March 11, 1968. Within this union, Lakita and Johnny, Jr. were born.
The Order of the Eastern Star and Usher Board were just some of the organizations Vivian led her talents to. She also earned her Evangelist License through the Church of God in Christ, Inc.
Priceless memories of Vivian will be nurtured by her husband, Johnny, Sr.; children, Lakita (Curtis) and Johnny, Jr. (Kendra); grandchildren, Cordarius, Ladarrius, Jamauri, Keldrick and Jamia; great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Christian, and Anyla; siblings, Dorothy Jean, Stella, Rae, Uylesse (Dorothy); her father- and mother in-law, William and Lena Griffin; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Eddie, Thomas, Howard, and Delois.
Words of thanks seem so inadequate for all of the kindness that has been bestowed upon our family. We thank you for the encouraging visits, the comforting calls, the lovely cards, and the sincere words of solace. We are finding strength in knowing earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. May God bless you richly for blessing us.
Her services have been entrusted to Forest Hill Funeral Home, Midtown on Elvis Presley Blvd. A visitation with her family will be held from 1:00~2:00 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2018.
