W. L. "Buddy" Welch, of Bartlett, TN, born on November 18, 1925 and passed away on July 22, 2017. A WWII Navy Signalman shipped to Pearl Harbor arriving right after the Day of Infamy, Buddy Welch served on the USS Biloxi during the war. He worked for General Motors and loved going on adventures with his family. He was dedicated to his faith, always singing in the church choir and quoting his favorite scripture verse to everyone he would meet:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
He loved GM cars, helping his family and friends with their first auto purchase and speeding all over town in his Buick LeSabre.
He leaves behind his daughter Janet Bullock (husband Don); daughter Wanda Ruark; grandson Wesley Bullock (wife Jamie, kids: Brent and Bailey); grandson, Adam Bullock (wife Shannon, grandchild Sidney); granddaughter Christina Meek (husband Andy); grandson Jay Ruark; granddaughter Donna Bullock; grandchildren, Nick, Shane and Regina Welch. He is reunited with his beloved wife Rubena and his son Mark Welch, 2 brothers and his mother Quilla Lamb, his father I.D. Welch and his stepfather, Albert Lamb.
Visitation is on Wednesday, July 26 from 5-7 pm at Forest Hill Funeral Home: 2440 Whitten Road. The funeral service will take place at Bartlett Baptist Church on Thursday, July 27th at 2 pm. Graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery following funeral service.
