Obituary

Wayne O. Renfro, 91, of Horn Lake, Mississippi passed away March 1, 2022 .

He is survived by his wife of 68 years , Edna Renfro; his daughter, Nancy R. Bartholomew (Richard); his son, Tommy W. Renfro; grandson, Matthew R. Bartholomew (Annie); granddaughter, Melanie S. Bartholomew; and three great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Joseph and Jonathan.

Wayne was a Korean War veteran and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army in 1952 . After his service he worked as an ironworker in the Memphis area for 51 years with Ironworkers Union Local 167. He was an active member of the American Legion and the Sons of the American Revolution.

Besides being a wonderful husband and father to his family , he loved working with his hands. He was a skilled woodworker and also spent many hours hunting, fishing, and gardening .

He was a faithful and long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Horn Lake , Mississippi where he served as a Deacon for many years and will be most fondly remembered as a greeter welcoming everyone to worship on Sunday mornings.

These words from 1 Corinthians 13 best characterize the man that Wayne was and that everyone who knew him will remember:

1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (NAS):

4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,

5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,

6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
