Wesley R. "Pete" Petreman, 88, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. For nearly 30 years, he served as band director at Frayser HS, Westside HS, and Craigmont HS. He also directed the Memphis Metro Band. He served as an orchestra director, choir director, and minister of music in many Baptist churches -Seventh Street, Frayser, Sky View, Rugby Hills, Leawood, and others. He was a WWII army veteran and was also active in Memphis politics. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ava Poe Petreman; his daughter, Claire Petreman Bevell; his son, Paul Petreman; seven grandchildren - Julie, Carrie, Christy, Laurie, Joshua, Barry, and Daniel; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Marie Harris Petreman. Visitation will be 12-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, with service and burial immediately to follow, at Forest Hill East Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests honoring Pete's life by donating to The Gideons International, of which he was an active member.
