Wesson D. Holden, 96, at approximately 2:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 passed from this world into the eternal presence of his Savior. He had been living at Pleasant Acres of York, PA for the past 4 years. Wesson "aka W.D." was born September 23, 1916 in Batesville, MS. His parents were C.J. and Laura Sarah Holcomb Holden. The family moved to Shelby County, TN in 1932. For most of his working life, Wesson was employed as a foreman for Gerber''s Memphis Ice Cream company. His wife, Stella (Lemley) Holden preceded his in death on October 17, 1999. He leaves a daughter and son in law, Margaret A and H. Warfield Hummer of York, PA; and a son and daughter-in-law, Richard D. and Darlene Holden of Union, KY. He also leaves six grandchildren, William A. Haas, David A. Haas, Laura A. Haas, Kim Spears, Rick Holden, Tracy Holcomb; plus nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Keffer Funeral Home of York, PA and Forest Hill East Cemetery of Memphis, TN are handling arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 1 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 2 p.m.
