Wilcie Lavene Dougherty passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday November 19th, 2014 at Foxbridge Assisted Living in Memphis, TN. She was born July 8, 1930 in Pontotoc County, MS to John Wiley Holloway and Lela Franklin Holloway. She graduated Valedictorian of her class from Algoma High School in 1948. She started her working career with the Pontotoc County Welfare Department before moving to Memphis where she met and married John Harris Dougherty on Dec 30, 1955. They had 45 wonderful years together before he died on Oct 19, 2000. She retired from University of Tennessee in 1982 after 25 years. She was a member of Beclair Baptist Church, where she especially enjoyed the Ruth Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her sister Mildred L. Ritchie of Bartlett, TN, and a nephew Jerry L. Holloway of Tupelo, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers Gerald D. Holloway and J.L. Holloway.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday November 24, 2014 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home Chapel in Memphis with the Reverend David Bowser officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill East Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 prior to the service.
