Mr. William C. Belus, Jr., 78, of Bartlett, TN - originally of Miami, FL, passed away on November 12, 2017 after a long battle with dementia. No one expected his illness would take him so quickly because of his ability to apply himself to numerous jobs at the same time. He excelled at many activities and shared his talents with all.
He served eleven years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, with three tours of duty aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge. He left the Navy for a 23 year service in the U.S. Air Force Civil Service in Memphis, TN where he rose to rank of Chief Master Sergeant, then retired in 1994. He enjoyed everything life had to offer including fishing, hunting, photography, woodworking, construction, and was a member of many clubs and organizations. His membership in the Memphis Camera Club earned him many awards for his excellence in photography on many subjects.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Brenda of Bartlett, TN; 3 children, Kimberly Taylor of Cordova, TN, Kelley Jones of Germantown, TN, William C. Belus III of Charlotte, NC; and three grandchildren, Christian and Averie Belus of Charlotte, NC and Chester Jones of Germantown, TN. He also leaves his sister, Margaret Slocum, and a niece Laura and her two children, Shelby and Tyler Slocum, all of Cortlandt Manor, NY.
He will be cremated and held for his wife, whereby they will be placed together. There will be no formal funeral, but there will be a small wake in his honor on November 25th from 1-4 pm at his home address. Any donations in his memory should be to LeBonheur Children''s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
