Obituary

William M. "Bill" Dixon, 94, of Southaven, MS passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at North Delta Hospice in Southaven. Bill was born in Memphis, TN and graduated from Southside High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from MLGW after 25 years. His passion was working with the youth in his community. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 75 years including being Scout Master with Troops 3, 97 and 190. He was also an Eagle Scout and Honorary Director of Old Kia Kima Preservation Association (OKKPA). There were many causes he worked for including the Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camps for children. Because of his involvement with his community he received the Thousand Points of Light Award from President George H Bush. Bill was a long time member of Longstreet United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde and Lula Dixon and his brother, Clyde Dixon, Jr. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Polly, four children: Doug Dixon (Donna), Mike Dixon (Florence), Donna Robertson (Chuck) and Teresa Barton (Joe); six grandchildren: Laurin and Matt Dixon, Kelly and Sam Robertson, Jake and Alex Barton. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday, October 3rd with service immediately following at Forest Hill South. Burial will be in Forest Hill South Cemetery. The family request that memorials are sent to: Longstreet United Methodist Church or OKKPA.
