William Gilbert "Bill" Harris, Jr., of Melbourne, Florida (formerly of Memphis) passed away on October 6, 2017 at 73 years old. He was a retired engineer, and had been a private government subcontractor for NASA. Mr. Harris graduated from Whitehaven High School, received his Master''s Degree from Florida Institute of Technology and a B.S. from Georgia Tech. Bill loved to travel and was a member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club.
Mr. Harris was born to the late William Gilbert Harris, Sr. and Elsie Vance Hudson. His father died in World War II, and Bill''s stepfather Clyde Hudson raised him. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Erin Harris of Coconut Creek, FL and Cynthia Lupie (Michael) of Ponte Verde Beach, FL; 3 grandchildren, Joshua, Brandon and Mason; his longtime girlfriend Sharyn Hurst of Melbourne, FL; sister Diana Owen (Charles) of Memphis; niece Joanna Young (Patrick) of Germantown, TN; and one great niece and nephew.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13 from 5-7 pm, with the funeral service being held on Saturday at 10 am. Both will be at Forest Hill South on Holmes Road. Burial will be at Edmondson Cemetery in Southaven, MS.
