William A. Kennedy, Jr. "Bill", went to be with his Savior on August 31, 2012 surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devoted husband and father to his family - wife, Mary; two children, Steve Kennedy (Susan) and Lynn Kennedy; four grandchildren, Jason Kennedy, Jamie Greenwood, Mickie Marter and Mindy Martin; seven great-grandchildren, Preston Cole Kennedy, Hannah Allison, Karsyn Greenwood, Kyleigh Greenwood, Paxton Grace Marter and twins Ella and Sullivan Kennedy. He leaves a brother, John Kennedy and sister, Carole Griffith. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Kennedy, Sr. and Addie Kennedy and brothers, Glenn Kennedy and Griffin Kennedy. Bill was a retired Lieutenant with the Memphis Fire Department with 25 years of dedicated service. He was also employed at Kimberly Clark Trucking for 11 years. Bill never met a stranger, he loved people and enjoyed his many friends. He was loved by his great niece, Katy Rodell and great nephews, the Reverend Ray Chandler, Jr. and Burt Chandler; several great-great nieces and a nephew. Bill was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, September 3 and service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 4 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with burial following.
