William "Bill" Lee Whitaker, 73, of Memphis, TN, went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2016. He was a life long sports "nut" . Bill served as bat boy for Ted Williams when he was a young boy and was involved in sports management at Treadwell High School before graduating in 1960. He was a sports collector, and avid University of Memphis fan. Bill worked for many years as an event coordinator at the Mid South Coliseum and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was son to the late, John Henry and Annabelle Whitaker and grandson to the late Prof. Coston F. Whitaker, the Peerless Weather Prognosticator. Bill is survived by his caregiver, David Walters and numerous cousins in Mississippi, Texas and Tennessee. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service begins at 2 p.m. Monday, March 14 at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, East with interment in Memphis Memory Gardens.
