Obituary

William Gerald Hamblin, born on November 11, 1931, a resident of Shelby Forest, Tennessee, passed away on April 30, 2018 from cardiac arrest. He was surrounded by his loved ones when he left this world. Mr. Hamblin served proudly in the United States Army and fought for his country in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Hamblin and by their three children, Sandra (Richard) Jenkins of Memphis, Tennessee, Sherry (Kurt) Daseler of Millington, Tennessee, and Teresa (Charles) Butcher of Germantown, Tennessee. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Aja Jenkins, Wallis Jenkins, Kaitlin (Blake) Wells, William Hunter Brents, Jacob Brents, and Katherine Daseler. He has one great-grandson, William Wells. He retired from Laclede Steel, Armco Steel and worked twenty more years for Builders Transportation. He was a hard worker, devoted husband and loving father. After his retirement, he enjoyed going to Shelby Forest Grocery every morning for his sausage and biscuit and coffee with a group of friends. He was always willing to drive his tractor to any neighbor who needed help. And, he made the best scrambled eggs, according to all of his grandkids. His favorite color was blue and always loved his Ole Miss Rebels. In lieu of flowers, we ask that any donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
