William McCord, age 80, of McKinney, Texas, passed away July 16, 2015, in Frisco, Texas. William was born December 2, 1934, in Gleason, Tennessee, to Rev. Clyde and Cecil (Bynum) McCord. He married Gayla Thompson on January 21, 1955, in Risco, Missouri. William retired from John Deere after almost thirty years of service. He loved his family and his pets. William loved all sports with his favorite being golf. He also enjoyed watching hummingbirds with his wife, Gayla. William was a member of Rhea''s Mill Baptist Church in Prosper, Texas. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Gayla McCord of McKinney, Texas; daughters, Neva McCord and Denise McCord, both of McKinney; grandson, William Brandon McCord and wife, Tiffany of Wylie, Texas; and nephew, Scott Thompson and wife, Tammy of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Susan Michelle McCord, and brother-in-law, Ronald Thompson. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Rhea''s Mill Baptist Church in Prosper, Texas. A reception will follow at the church. The family will have a visitation Saturday August 1, 2015 at 9-10 a.m. with services immediately following at 10 a.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home South located at 2545 East Holmes Road, Memphis, TN 38118.
