William Edward Tanner, Sr. (Billy), 91, died May 30, 2015 of complications from pneumonia. He was born December 2, 1923 in Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Thomas Tanner and Josephine Pearce Tanner, his first wife Mary Frances Tanner, his brother Arthur T (Tommy) and Zachary Walls.

Billy was a graduate of Humes High School and served in the Marine Corps on Bougainville Island during WWII. He was a devoted family man and loving husband. Billy was a master carpenter, union president, dedicated Christian, church leader and teacher.

He is survived by his wife Juanita Walls Tanner, two sons, William Jr., wife Susan, and Robyn Starr, five grandchildren, stepson Michael Walls, wife Deanna and their two children. He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph P, wife Maurine and Raymond L, wife Margaret and Tommy''s wife Ann.

Funeral services will be held at Raleigh United Methodist Church at 10 AM, June 4, 2015. He will be interred following the service at Forest Hills Memorial Park East, Memphis.
