Obituary

William Douglas Winchester, 87, of Memphis TN, passed away after a short illness on Friday August 10, 2018. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran, stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. Upon his return home, he attended Bethel College, and then spent his career working as an accountant. Douglas is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pearl Umsted Winchester; a daughter, Debbie Mitchell (Herman); a son William Thomas Winchester (Glenda); and two granddaughters, Maggie and Cayla; two sisters, Mary Kleet and Reba Christopher (Ricky); and four brothers, Alfred Winchester (Peggy), James Winchester (Kay), Walter Winchester (Kathy), and Jimmy Winchester (Janet); also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fonzo V and Clara Myers Winchester; three sisters, Rebecca Winchester, Jossie Purvis, and Clara Kesterson. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 14th at Longstreet United Methodist Church 5268 Airways Blvd., Memphis, TN 38116, where Douglas was a member, with visitation at 10:00 AM and the funeral service at 11:00 AM; burial will be immediately afterward at Forest Hill South.
